Two identical Eurasian pygmy owl (Glaucidium passerinum) nest boxes finished.

The Eurasian pygmy owl is the smallest owl in Europe and so can lay claim to probably being the cutest!

They live in our coniferous forest. The owls are crepuscular,  being active during the daylight hours near sunrise and sunset.

We have to get the boxes set up on trees by the end of January as the owls will often have found and decided on their their nesting hole by then.

The owls often uses old woodpecker holes to nest in. Especially, those of the Great spotted woodpecker (which we have lots of!).

These nest boxes provide more choice of nesting locations.

We are looking forward to seeing if we get any occupants!
